The Minister for Health invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of Ordinary Member to the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.
Essential
Candidates wishing to apply must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at the appropriately senior level in the following areas:
Cybersecurity & information governance
• Knowledge and experience in information governance and cybersecurity, including an understanding of information security principles, data protection obligations, and the evolving cyber threat landscape.
• Experience in overseeing cyber risk, incident response and business continuity arrangements, and in promoting secure and appropriate use of digital systems and information assets.
Desirable
It is also desirable that candidates demonstrate evidence of experience in the following:
• Board‑level understanding of cybersecurity risk as an organisational and public‑interest issue, including the ability to scrutinise management assurances and ask proportionate, risk‑based questions about cyber resilience and incident preparedness.
• Knowledge of information governance principles, including data protection, records management, information security and accountability frameworks, and how these support public trust and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with assurance and oversight frameworks relevant to cybersecurity and information risk, including familiarity with recognised frameworks such as NIST or ISO‑aligned approaches.
• Understanding of regulatory, ethical and public‑sector expectations in relation to data protection, transparency, and secure use of digital systems, particularly in the context of public‑facing bodies.
