The Minister invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill a position as Ordinary member on the Board of EirGrid.
External Affairs (Capital Projects)
Essential
Applications are invited from candidates who possess the skills and experience necessary to fulfil obligations in line with the roles and responsibilities set out in the Code.
All candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of a career history serving in positions of leadership at an appropriately senior level (i.e., executive level and/or equivalent advisory level and/or non-executive board membership) in an organisation of scale involved in the infrastructure sector (including energy, telecommunications, other utilities, transport, industrial or construction).
In addition, candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of at least two of the following:
• Significant experience at an appropriately senior level of developing and maintaining constructive relationships and influential engagement with community, governmental (national or local), regulatory and/or industrial stakeholders in the context of delivering major infrastructure projects;• Experience at an appropriately senior level of addressing the strategic risks and associated stakeholder engagement central to the delivery of major infrastructure projects related to stakeholder sentiment, planning consents, compliance, and community impact;• An understanding of the critical role that the electricity network plays in supporting security of supply, competitiveness, economic development and the transition to a low carbon environment.
Desirable
It is also desirable that candidates demonstrate evidence in their application of one or more of the following:• Organisation transformation experience, at a senior leadership level, in a large, complex organisation;• Previous experience of Board or sub-committee membership;• Understanding of energy sector policy (within the broader climate change and economic policies) and developments in Ireland, the EU and internationally;• A keen interest/experience in the development of the electricity network to facilitate security of supply, economic competitiveness and addressing the challenge of climate change; • Relevant experience at publicly listed company or a large multinational organisation.
