The NMACS Operations Manager will work closely with staff and colleagues in the Department’s National Directorate, as well as liaising with staff in local authority fire services and the services communications centres. While the primary location of the Operations Manager will be in offices provided by Limerick City and County Council, the Operations Manager will work also in Mayo and Dublin Regional Communication Centres and may work at other agreed locations. The NMACS Operations Manager will also be required to travel and to attend meetings in Ireland and abroad in line with stated duties. In particular, the role involves developing close links with Communications Centres and local authority staff, including participating in periodic visits to Communications Centres and to each local authority.

Manage technical and administrative aspects to ensure the delivery of assigned aspects the NMACS’s work programme;
Work closely with staff in the Mobilisation and Communications Centres including on the introduction and support of new aspects of the National Mobilisation and Communications System;
Display strong interpersonal communication skills and an ability to develop and maintain positive and beneficial relationships with a range of stakeholders;
Work closely with staff in local authority fire services;

Limerick City and County Council working with the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management of the Department of Housing Local Government and Heritage have established the Fire Services National Mobilisation and Communications System which is tasked with implementing national policy as approved by the Minister of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The National Mobilisation and Communications System has delivered the next generation fire service mobilisation and communications system. While the current three individual regional systems have operated successfully since the early 1990s, the technology has now moved forward sufficiently to enable the establishment and migration to one single national system, with communication nodes in the three former Regional Communications Centres.
An opportunity now exists in Limerick City & County Council for the position of Operations Manager.
Salary Scale effective from 1st February 2026:
€81,777 - €82,506 - €85,715 - €88,944 - €92,179 - €95,379 - €98,600 - €102,252 (LSI1) - €108,074 (LSI2)
Hours of attendance will be fixed from time to time but will amount to not less than 35 hours gross per week.
The annual leave allowance for the position of Operations Manager is 30 days.
